The Curriculum
At Blue Wren, we believe preparation for school begins as soon as your child starts with us. Our philosophy promotes learning through play and combined with caring relationships and genuine partnerships, we can offer your child the best start to life. We believe that children are capable and competent learners and we expose them to maths, science and literacy throughout each different age group.
In the Koala room (0-2 years), we pride ourselves on providing an environment that promotes curiosity and exploration with a focus on relationships and emotional support while promoting fundamental learning skills. We work in close partnerships with families to support and maintain individual routines and needs, promoting ongoing communication to support families in their parenting rolls. Our programs focus heavily on capturing individual interest, in a fun play-based environment, while supporting the growth and development of each child.

In the Joey room (2-3 years), we promote social and emotional skills. We support children to enter play, share and take turns. As educators we build upon their independence and sense of self. We use the Early Years Learning Framework, incorporating the children’s interest to develop the children’s pre-literacy and numeracy skills. We have a strong philosophy which supports close relationships with families to ensure the experiences we provide for each child is meaningful.
In the Sugar Glider (4 years) and Echidna (5 years) rooms we build upon these skills to further extend their knowledge and understanding. We use children’s interests as well as opportunities for intentional teaching to do this. The Early Years Learning Framework guides us to ensure we are providing your children with the knowledge, skills and understandings to ensure they reach their full potential. When children are engaged and interested, learning occurs naturally.
We participate in a range of activities to further support the children who are embarking on their transition to primary school. These include visits to a local school, and a reverse transition, where primary children visit us at Blue Wren. We work closely with the local schools to ensure our children are well equipped for the next stage of their schooling life.
Across the service we use Earlyworks to document your child’s journey with us. EarlyWorks is a comprehensive early childhood programming, documentation, portfolio and family communication system. Visit the link for more information. https://getearlyworks.com.au/
